Jalesar is a town and a municipal board in Etah district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is connected by road to other towns such as Hathras, Etah, Aligarh, Khair and it is approx 53 km from Agra.

Geography

Jalesar is located at 27°29′N 78°19′E / 27.48°N 78.32°E / 27.48; 78.32.[1] It has an average elevation of 173 metres (567 feet). Jalesar is connected to major towns of Uttar Pradesh like Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, Etah and Firozabad by road. Road connectivity from Delhi has been improved by formation of Taj Express way which connects Jalesar via Khair and Aligarh on one hand, and on the other hand, is connected via Raya, Mursan and Hathras to Taj Expressway. Rail Connectivity exists from Jalesar town to Tundla and Etah however to connect to Rail network, Recently a new line also added to Jalesar Rail Network which connected to agra, Residents have to travel to nearby station Jalesar Road or Hathras Junctions which are 14 km and 24 km respectively. This network helps to travel from Allahabad to Delhi via 3 trains, Mahananda Express, Muri Express and HAD/TAD passenger. Road conditions are a bit shaky however connectivity via Agra and Hathras are better.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Jalesar had a population of 35,662. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jalesar is a large village located in Jalesar of Etah district, Uttar Pradesh with total 815 families residing. The Jalesar village has population of 4733 of which 2511 are males while 2222 are females as per Population Census 2011.

In Jalesar village population of children with age 0-6 is 719 which makes up 15.19 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Jalesar village is 885 which is lower than Uttar Pradesh state average of 912. Child Sex Ratio for the Jalesar as per census is 820, lower than Uttar Pradesh average of 902.

Jalesar village has higher literacy rate compared to Uttar Pradesh. In 2011, literacy rate of Jalesar village was 68.46 % compared to 67.68 % of Uttar Pradesh. In Jalesar Male literacy stands at 80.95 % while female literacy rate was 54.53 %.

As per constitution of India and Panchyati Raaj Act, Jalesar village is administrated by Sarpanch (Head of Village) who is elected representative of village.

Areas

Jalesar town has been built around market which is spread roughly 4 km in length. Main markets are Nala Bazar, Market near Tehsil and Mandi Market. Main Areas are Nala Bazar, Sabzi Mandi, Ghantaghar, Mohalla Pansariyan, Mohalla Hatonda, Mohalla Nakta Kua, Golnagar, Gandhi Chowk, Saray Khanam, Sher Ganj, Mahavir Ganj and outskirts of Nidholi Kalan Bus Adda, Agra Bus Adda and Hathras Junction. Jalesar is famous for brass moulding and machining which takes place in areas like Golnagar, Sher Ganj and Nakta Kua.

Tourism

Patna Bird Sanctuary is a lovely place to visit which is situated approximately 5.5 km away on Sikandra Rao Road. Best time to visit this place is September to February however in December and January, it becomes residence of migrated birds from European and American zones. Jalesar is a town of brass and famous for its 'Pital Udhyog' which has never faded its shine. Jalesar is known for its cast bells, the major component of whose brass is iron . Famous Temples are Ram Mandir in Gali Boharan,Chintaharan Mandir near Govt. Hospital,Pathwari Mandir situated on road to Hathras Junction and Hanuman Mandir in Mahavir Ganj. Other temples in the area are Bhairo Bagichi, Dwarkadheesh Mandir and Agrasen Mandir. Jalesar is famous for Saturday Jaat for which people from farther towns and villages visit to devote their respect. This has been custom for many years and being continued. Another attraction, is Dargah Place which is located near old Basant Cinema and has been a place to Organize Urs Fair which is enjoyed by residents. Dargah place has holistic importance for its residents.
