The Malaysia FAM League (formerly and currently known as Malaysia FAM Cup) is the third-tier football league in Malaysia. The tournament used to be a cup format, but it changed 2008 as it was held as a league tournament and changing to its current name.[1]
The competition was first held in Septemper 1951.[2][1] The current champion is MISC-MIFA which wins the league for the first time in their history.
Teams which earns their promotion will be promoted to Malaysia Premier League while teams which relegated usually return to their respective state leagues.[3]
Years

- 1974-1989: as a secondary knockout competition between club teams only after Malaysia Cup.
- 1990-2008: as a third-tier knockout competition.
- 2008- now: as a third-tier league competition.
History
Malaysia FAM Cup was established in August 1951 as a secondary knockout competition to the more prestigious Malaya Cup.[4] The competition were held between the state teams including Singapore, Police, Army, and Prisons Department of Malaysia in its early days. The inaugural season started in September 1951 after the Malaya Cup final concluded.[2][5] The final match was held in 26 April 1952 between Penang and Selangor which was won by Penang.[6][7] Starting in 1974, the state teams were barred from entering the competition and only the club sides could enter.[1]
With the advent of two-league Semi-Pro League in 1989, FAM Cup becomes the third-tier competition. In 1993, the format of the competition was changed to include a two-group league followed by the traditional knockout format. Promotion to the professional M-League were introduced for the first time in 1997, Johor FC and NS Chempaka FC the first two sides to be promoted that year.[1]
A further changes were made in 2008 to abolish the knockout stages and introduce a double round-robin league format. The tournament in now known as Malaysia FAM League.[8]
The final match for 2016 season has been broadcast by Astro Arena.<ref "livebroadcast">http://www.fam.org.my/news/sidang-media-praperlawanan-akhir-pertama-piala-fam-2016-misc-mifa-lwn-pknp-fc Sidang Media Pra Perlawanan Akhir Pertama Piala FAM 2016, MISC-MIFA lwn PKNP FC</ref>
