Monroeville is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

History

A former variant name of Monroeville was Croxton,^[1] for founder Abraham Croxton.^[2] Monroeville was laid out in 1836.^[3] The name honors James Monroe, 5th President of the United States.^[2] A post office called Croxton was established in 1833, and remained in operation until 1895.^[4]
