Semeykin Crater is a crater in the Ismenius Lacus quadrangle on Mars. It is located at 41.8° north latitude and 351.4° west longitude. Semeykin Crater is 76.0 km in diameter and was named after Boris Semeykin, a Soviet astronomer (1900-1937).[1]

Why are Craters important?
The density of impact craters is used to determine the surface ages of Mars and other solar system bodies.[2] The older the surface, the more craters present. Crater shapes can reveal the presence of ground ice.
