Overview of orbital spaceflight
Manned spaceflight
Five manned orbital launches were conducted during 2013, all successfully, carrying a total of 15 astronauts into orbit. All of these missions were flown using Russian Soyuz spacecraft or the Chinese Shenzhou spacecraft.
Unmanned exploration
Numerous significant milestones in robotic spaceflight occurred in 2013, including the landing of China's Chang'e 3 lander at Moon's Mare Imbrium on 14 December.
