The Hayward House is a historic house at 9 Hayward Avenue in Colchester, Connecticut. It is a large three-story wood frame structure with a gambrel roof, a large central chimney, and a single-story porch extending across the front. Although it was built c. 1775, it has a number of late 19th century Victorian embellishments.
The house was the home of 19th-century inventor Nathaniel Hayward, the founder and principal owner of the Hayward Rubber Company, and the developer of the process of vulcanizing rubber.[2]
The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.[1]
