Junction City is a village in Claiborne and Union parishes in Louisiana, United States, and is the twin city of neighboring Junction City, Arkansas. The population was 582 at the 2010 census.[1]
The Union Parish portion of Junction City is part of the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Geography
Junction City is located at 33°0′41″N 92°43′23″W / 33.01139°N 92.72306°W (33.011487, -92.722919).[2]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.2 km²), all land.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 652 people, 256 households, and 180 families residing in the village. The population density was 532.4 inhabitants per square mile (206.3/km²). There were 294 housing units at an average density of 240.1 per square mile (93.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 51.38% White, 47.24% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.15% from other races, and 1.07% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.31% of the population.
There were 256 households out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.7% were married couples living together, 20.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.08.
In the village the population was spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 22.4% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $30,625, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $32,656 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,478. About 16.7% of families and 24.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 44.0% of those under age 18 and 22.8% of those age 65 or over.
