Northern Rail run the majority of services in Northern England serving the main cities of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sheffield and the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Durham, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and all four areas of Yorkshire (North, South, East and West), plus some services running into Staffordshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
