United States presidential election in North Carolina, 1972
The 1972 United States presidential election in North Carolina took place on November 7, 1972 throughout all 50 states and D.C., which was part of the 1972 United States presidential election. Voters chose 13 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President.
North Carolina strongly voted for Republican nominee President Richard Nixon, over Democratic nominee Senator George McGovern. North Carolina voted overwhelmingly for President Nixon, who won 69.46% to 28.89%, one of the biggest margin's in the country.
