World Museum of Mining

Coordinates: 46°00′35″N 112°33′55″W / 46.00972°N 112.56528°W / 46.00972; -112.56528 The World Museum of Mining is located in Butte, Montana. The purpose of the museum is to preserve a segment of American history which has heretofore been neglected.

Chartered in 1964 as a non-profit educational corporation, the Museum first opened its doors in July 1965. The site, an inactive silver and zinc mine named the Orphan Girl, includes some 22 acres of land.[1]
