The 1959 Campeonato Centroamericano was the first attempt in an international tournament for the CONCACAF region. All teams that participated were champions of their respective leagues.[1] The tournament was composed of North and Central American clubs with one from North and three from Central America.

Guadalajara were declared winners on the head-to-head result (3-2), although Olimpia had a better goal average(+2 - +1).
