The 22205/22206 Chennai Madurai AC Duronto Express is an Indian Railway-operated fully Air-Conditioned Non-stop Superfast Bi-weekly train between Chennai, Capital of Tamil Nadu and Madurai, the Temple city. This train is one of the fastest and most acclaimed services operated by the Southern Railways.
Background
The ever-growing inflow to the State Capital from Madurai and its neighboring districts and the heavy rail traffic on the Tambaram-Villupuram-Madurai section,[2] is the prime reason behind operating the train from Chennai Central.[3] And hence the fact that it takes a longer route via Dindugul, Karur, Jolarpet. The train does not make any commercial halts en route and plies across the Chennai-Salem-Madurai line.[4][5][6]
