London Grove Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,475 at the 2010 census.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 17.2 square miles (45 km2), of which 0.06% is water.
London Grove Township is located in southern Chester County in Pennsylvania’s rolling Piedmont region. The township traditionally has been an agricultural community, but has recently also become an attractive place to live as development pushes west from Philadelphia and north from Wilmington, Delaware.
Demographics
At the 2010 census, the township was 76.1% non-Hispanic White, 3.8% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.8% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and 1.8% were two or more races. 17.6% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry .
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 5,265 people, 1,633 households, and 1,365 families residing in the township. The population density was 305.9 people per square mile (118.1/km²). There were 1,698 housing units at an average density of 98.7/sq mi (38.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 91.40% White, 2.41% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 3.68% from other races, and 1.84% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.20% of the population.
There were 1,633 households, out of which 46.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.2% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.4% were non-families. 13.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.12 and the average family size was 3.39.
In the township the population was spread out, with 30.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 109.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.2 males.
