#4356 operates through University Heights on the Bx3.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates a number of bus routes in the Bronx, New York, United States. Many of them are the direct descendants of streetcar lines (see list of streetcar lines in the Bronx). All local buses are operated by the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority, a subsidiary of New York City Transit Authority, except for the Bx23, operated by the MTA Bus Company.

Seven Metro-North Railroad feeder routes are run by the brand name of Hudson Rail Link,^[1] operated by Logan Bus Company under contract. All of these routes are listed below.

The Hudson Rail Link is a feeder bus system operated by Logan Bus Company for Metro-North Railroad. It connects the Riverdale and Spuyten Duyvil stations on the Hudson Line to the neighborhoods of the same name. As of 2014, more than half of the daily commuters who use Spuyten Duyvil station arrive using the feeder bus.^[60] Service operates on weekdays only, connecting to and from Metro-North trains. It accepts MetroCard, and UniTickets are available at a discount for rail passengers.

1984 route revamp

On February 18, 1984, the entire Bronx bus system was revamped, with several routes renumbered and merged.^[62][63][64] The changes were as follows:

Bx55	The Hub Third Avenue-149th Street subway station	Williamsbridge Gun Hill Road subway station	Third Avenue, Webster Avenue	Replaced the IRT Third Avenue Line (8 train) on April 29, 1973; stopped only at its former stations.[24] One of the few routes in the city to allow free transfers to the subway prior to the introduction of the MetroCard, and one of the first routes to use MetroCard in the early 1990s.[66] Some trips terminated at Yankee Stadium via 161st Street in the 1970s.[63][67][68] Originally traveled via Melrose Avenue between 161st Street and 149th Street Service was slowly cut, starting with late night service in 1997 with the introduction of free transfers to other buses and the subway, then select weekday and all weekend trips terminated at Fordham Plaza in 2004, and finally all weekend and evening service was cut on June 27, 2010.[6][8] Fordham Plaza service merged into the Bx15 Local during weekdays on July 1, 2013 to become the Bx15 Limited via Third Avenue.[24] The last bus ran on June 28, 2013. Williamsbridge service replaced by the Bx41 Select Bus Service on July 1, 2013 via Webster Avenue.
Bx56	"Culture Bus Loop III" Short Lived loop Line. Only operated from Memorial Day weekend May 25, 1974 thur Labor Day September 2, 1974. Service was discontinued after Labor Day 1974, and was never resumed.
Barretto Point Park Shuttle (BPSH)	Hunts Point Hunts Point Avenue and Southern Boulevard at Hunts Point Avenue ( 6   <6>  trains)	Barretto Point Park		Summer weekends only. Began on June 27, 2008[69] In 2008, the western terminus was the Prospect Avenue subway station[70] Ran during 2008 and 2009 summer seasons before being discontinued as part of 2010 budget-related service reductions Restored in Summer 2012 due to demand.[71] Replaced in 2013 by the Bx46, but service runs from the Prospect Avenue station (the western terminus of the shuttle in 2008) to the Hunts Point Cooperative Market via the Longwood Avenue (IRT Pelham Line) station and Barretto Point Park.
