Goolgowi /ˈɡʊlɡaʊi/ is located in western New South Wales, Australia, around 650 kilometres (400 mi) west of Sydney via the Mid-Western Highway and is the administrative centre of Carrathool Shire. At the 2011 census, Goolgowi had a population of 286.[1]
Goolgowi Post Office opened on 12 October 1925.[2]
The town water is supplied via a bore and there is a separate non-potable water supply to each household. It has a primary school and a 25-metre (27 yd) public swimming pool. Other services include a general store, service station, ex-serviceman's club, hotel, two motels, several mechanical workshops and a metal fabrication/engineering business.
The horse racing trainer, TJ Smith was raised in Goolgowi.
