List of United States Senators from New Mexico

New Mexico was admitted to the Union on January 6, 1912, and elects senators in Class 1 and Class 2. Its current Senators are Democrats Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich.

Living former U.S. Senators from New Mexico

As of October 2016, there are three former Senators who are currently living, two from Class 1 and one from Class 2. The most recent senator to die was Edwin L. Mechem of Class 1 (1962-1964) on November 27, 2002. The most recent Class 2 senator to die was Clinton Presba Anderson (1949-1973) on November 11, 1975. The most recently serving Class 1 senator to die was Joseph Montoya (1964-1977) on June 8, 1978.
