Ice hockey

The NHL's Atlanta Thrashers have been sold to a Winnipeg-based group that will move the team to that city for the 2011–12 season. The league's owners are expected to ratify the deal at their next scheduled meeting on June 21. The move brings the NHL back to Winnipeg for the first time since the Jets left for Phoenix in 1996, and also makes Atlanta the first city to lose two NHL teams in the league's modern era.^[1]
